Hi I am looking for any Smiths from Stevenston. My g grandfather James Smith left Stevenston sometime after 1901 (he is listed in the 1901 census aged 6) His mother died the next year and the next record we have of him is joining the Australian army in 1917. His parents were James Smith and RoseAnn Murphy, he had two sisters RoseAnn and Julia (who died aged 7) and two brothers Michael and Patrick (never married). He also had an Uncle Patrick & Aunt Annie who had five children Mary, Patrick, John, Annie & Julia. I think John Smith lived in 22 Rowanside Terrace, Ardrossan as when his Uncle Patrick died there was a J Smith (nephew) listed as the informant at the above address. Any help would be gratefully appreciatied.

I am related to William Cowan born c1815 who married Janet Mercer in 1842 (both from Selkirk). In 1861 & 71 they were in Dumfries, by 1881 widow Janet was in Ayr (Carrick St). Could go on .... Is this the same family?

I am looking for information on a John McIntyre or MacIntyre. He lived for a time in S. Africa. The only other information I have about him is the left half of a newspaper obituary. It reads as follows
DEATH OF A GIRVAN.... Mr. John M'Intyre died on Ma... Davidson Cottage Hospital, Girv... of 82.
Mr McIntyyre served before... the world for many years and... in Africa. He was identified... at Girvan, and, by his own... launched a fishing boat, "The... shipyard.
This craft was in commission... and was an excellent example ... Ayrshire builder.

Dear Sir
I am at my wits end trying to trace a death of my g g grandmother Janet Cameron who married Alexander Gibson in 1830 Kilmarnock...She died sometime between 1844-1850 as she had a son born Kilmarnock 1844 and her husband Alexander Gibson remarried a Jane Patterson in Kilmarnock 1850..
The strange thing about this is there was a son James Gibson born 1846 but records state this was Alexander and Jane Patersons son???
Would appreciate any comments..
